How does death change your perspective?
…perhaps circus is the wrong word. It’s the theatre of the absurd. I hate circuses, even if they provide bread (I’m supposed to desire bread and circuses as a proletariat of the empire, eh). Fucking clowns make my skin crawl. My meditation program has had a lot to say about death and addressing one’s mortality.

When my mind has been particularly troubled, 😕, I obtained relief and perspective with sleep-casts and a pair of quality noise-cancelling earphones.
Wikiquotes has a plethora of musings that I get comfort (and yes, joy) from… about death. And they are 100% religion free 🆓 !!!
If we kept in mind that we will soon inevitably die, our lives [sic] would be completely different. If a person knows that he will die in a half hour, he certainly will not bother doing trivial, stupid, or, especially, bad things during this half hour. Perhaps you have half a century before you die — what makes this any different from a half hour? ~ Leo Tolstoy (((source: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Leo_Tolstoy ; verified 11:40 a.m. EST, Feb. 4/26; passes the sniff test as this isn’t a fucking academic blog-journal; it’s all about Paul Neem living his life well & pissing off the high powers)))).
Neem persona non grata? send up a flare to get ‘im home to port.
At 2:50 a.m. Friday morning, I had to get up and write this down. What were at least 3 songs that could be used as beacons for my love to find me if I was gone, or lost at sea, or whatever whiteout condition you can imagine.
(a) Indigo Girls. “Blood And Fire”. 4 minutes 37 seconds. Writer: Amy Ray.
(b) Fleetwood Mac. “Songbird”. 3 minutes 20 seconds. Writer: Christine McVie. Rumours.
(c) Cowboy Junkies. The Trinity Sessions. The entire album? If I have to chose, it’ll be “Misguided Angel”. 4 minutes 58 seconds. Writers: Margo Timmins, Michael Timmins. Only 1 track — that’s not enough. I’m itching to relisten to the entire CD again!

Bonus tracks… naturally:
- “Echos“. Pink Floyd.
- “Wish You Were Here“. Pink Floyd.
- “You’ve Got To Funkifize“. Or, “Soul Vaccination“. Tower Of Power.
- “Goldberg Variations” (((the version where our CBC lunatic slows down the pace and hums along))). Glenn Gould.
- “Unaccompanied Cello Suite Number 1, in G major, BMV 1007, I. Prelude“. Johann Sebastian Bach. {{{{{Yo Yo Ma’s rendition, but a much earlier version… done for CBS back in the early 1980s. He slows the tempo right down, and he plays it with his gonads!}}}}}
3:35 a.m. EST, Friday morning. Okay, I can go back to bed… being led by yowling cats. Sigh.
friday, february 6-7, 2026 report.
We were able to celebrate TS’s birthday with lots of foot massages, and high-octane lunch, and a cake made by Little Buck Bakery.

After our RMT treatment, we took a detour to look at Georgian Bay. It’s frozen over and we’re hoping it’ll reduce the snow-lake-effect.
I’m also hoping the replacement foam pads will eventually arrive, so I can re-commission these 2 workhorses. TS has promised me that she’ll knit an accompanying headband for the Sony cans. Alan Hardman, thank you for doing the nuts-and-bolts repairs on these 2 ‘phones. I’d like to give these Sony-Senheisser cans another lease on life — before they melt away to nothing due to my cranium skin chemistry.

Yep, you’ll need to click on the image for its full detail and meta-captions.
