Despite all of its political faults, I celebrate my country’s birthday.

I would disagree with Mister Williams. At our worst, I think Canada is polite (not kind). TS used to tutor a student whose family grew orchids in Delta, British Columbia. This student (a mountain of a man) told us that Canadians are like South Koreans (his ancestors). Apparently, South Koreans can be muted and have a poker face… attributes that Canadians apparently exhibit to each other! He told this to us over 20 years ago — I still remember it.
Robin Williams, you died too young. I am sorry that your demons got the better of you.
Do I enjoy visiting the United States? Absolutely. I have family scattered all across the norther states. North Chicago (Illinois) cannot be beat. Washington state? Northern California? Nice! And Minnesota? Hooohhhh, that state where my brother-in-law lives. It’s out there! On the same latitude as me here on the North Bruce Peninsula. I still have memories of visiting the Indiana Dunes, my in-law shaking my hand, having me board a sailboat, and stick a beer in my hand. I have an image of TS piloting that boat burned into my mind. Hospitality.
