What’s the trait you value most about yourself?
Anybody whose hand to spend time with me pick up on that really fast. I prefer DEPTH of knowledge rather than BREADTH of knowledge. As a consequence, I can get in the weeds really quickly and lose perspective.
how do i document my nit-picking?
I take unassuming set of written instructions from manufacturers and go to pound-town on ’em. Circles, labeled arrows, graphic organizers (WDIS-WDIM [what does it say, what does it mean]), and coloured pens, with ample use of weird code I’ve picked up over the years!

When I talk to TS, I love-love-love doodling, as the following images hint at:

Tuesday, october 14, 2025 day-use-studio update.
What did TS and I figure out today:
- Inside bunkie floor: 9.5ft by 10ft 9in so 102.13 square feet.
- 7ft by 10ft 9in so 75.25 square feet.
- Approximately 178 square feet. I want to lay two coats of floor paint-stain so total coverage ~356 square feet. Tint the floor stain: home hardware, BREAD AND BUTTER, B3B-4-09960-4. We’ll add trim later to cover the gaps (preventing them from becoming dirt magnets).
- Bunkie patio: 335.6 cm by 191.5 cm to the outer edges. 6.43 square metres, or approximately 21.1 square feet.
- There are 9 studs (2-by-10″), 36.2 cm from outer edge to next inner edge.
- I want the deck planks touching each other, to reduce insect ingress. We’re applying galvanized metal mesh (0.5 cm square, landscaping fabric) around the house and the patio as a ventilated skirt.

A dear family friend lost one of their dogs yesterday (cancer), and that made me want to finish early and give our elderly beasts a bit of extra loving. I’ve postponed exterior painting until tomorrow (weather permitting).
To limit the number of bird collisions with our rock farm’s windows, we’re adding more CriCut vinyl dots to the windows. Since the cutting device is large, cumbersome, and surprisingly heavy (motorized cutting head or an oversized transformer), I whipped up a quick solution. TS knit some trail markers for me (that I will add along the property lines when it’s time to recut them, early winter). Let’s hope the feather-heads get the hint and don’t go careening into the glass!
