I went onto Home Despot’s website and looked at plywood prices. Holy crap.
- Thirty Canadian bucks will buy me a 3/8″ thick, 4′ by 8′ spruce *standard grade* plywood sheet.
- The orange blob claims it’s Canadian made.
- Well, that’s true.
- The spruce trees are grown in Canada, loaded into big-anus-ships, processed overseas, and shipped back to North America.
- It’s marketed from a company called West Fraser. Who is that corporation? Is it really this company? Link.
- One can also buy pressure-treated 4′ x 8′ and 1/2″ thick plywood for fifty-nine bucks CDN each.
- Infused with MicroPro Sienna. Nice! Not creosote, but still insect-resistant.
- Just don’t breath in the sawdust nor burn it in the home fireplace.
What the hell is *standard grade*? Give me industry-recognized terminology please.
PN might drop by the Owen Sound ReStore. Can he get surplus plywood for a better price? Stay tuned!
