What advice would you give to your teenage self?
It gets better.
In the post-pandemic mindset, this phrase seems to be lost among the screaming meemies and awful players online. I remember George Takei being the one who supposedly coined this phrase (during a LGBQ media event). In April, I will be turning 55 years old. I can’t get my head around how much liquid shit I had to wade through to get here. I kept diaries and journals from my early twenties… trying to unpack being a teenager. And here I am, middle-aged and looking forward to a hell of a ride here on the North Bruce Peninsula.
I’d assure my teenage self that all the abuse… all the brainwashing… can be healed. Yeah, it’ll leave scars. I would also assure my younger self that I have already made a difference in the world. I’ve affected thousands of teenagers. And I continue to show younger people that there is ANOTHER WAY TO BEHAVE.
What I would also remind my teenage self: using extreme prejudice against my father won’t help. I’d assure my younger self strangers & people (who mattered) eventually saw through his veneer. He was the worst kind of collaborator, in every sense of the word. Don’t worry, younger Paul. He will cremated without any public funeral, memorial, nor celebration of life. He’ll be dead and forgotten.
That’s the advice I would give my teenage self. Oh, and drink a beer! Kiss a girl & sweep her off her feet. Dance like a fool.
monday, march 31 2025 farm report.
TS and I are so over winter. We had that thaw mid-March and I assumed… whelp… helloooooo Spring 2025. Yeah right. 2 days of freezing rain messed up the Bruce Peninsula real good! Tomorrow’s April Fools day? Meh, we already got smacked about. I posted a whole lotta buncha images on my sister site’s gallery, blackcatbandb.ca (link, scroll down). Yesterday, the 2-days of ice accumulation made the walk to our mailbox too spicy for my tastes. We retreated back to the house.
Here’s a link of a collection of images I can share with you. Can you tolerate an ~1.25 minute video? See below:
Josh Williams at Electric Woodpecker built a fantastic logo for PN. Not only is Mr. Williams a gifted graphic artist, he runs a classy tattoo parlor up in Tobermory, Ontario (link). If you want quality and safe work, this store is for you! If JW is unavailable, he employs other artists that I can confidently recommend. When you get to know TS, ask her about the art Josh has added to TS’ giant Pacific octopus. ’nuff said.
