Do you need a break? From what?
The idiotic news cycle. I’m off-grid, yet I still catch myself doom-scrolling the usual news outlets. I can’t tell whether the United States is descending into civil war and/or enjoys making a fool of itself on the world stage, with a broken political system. Did the 2020 pandemic really break society as badly as I think it did? Meanwhile, my neighbours on highway 6 post FUCK TRUDEAU & SINGH banners on their houses. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Our rock farm has many distractions to help me gain perspective.
Sunday february 9 rock farm report.
We have another snow squall alert for the region. 25-45 cm accumulation predicted. And by the sudden whiteout conditions I see outside our window, I believe it!

TS’ birthday was last Wednesday and we celebrated with a Sugar Dust Bakery cake, a nice lunch out, Service Ontario (OHIP renewal and vehicle plate changes of address), Cafe Gilou take away, and bloodwork.
MH from Evolve Builders came up and repaired the tile cracks in the shower. The door latch was an easy fix. Avenir Energy installed 2 addition propane bottles, so we now have a quartet of pressure containers in the bush (feeding GENNY-GENERAC). TS made savory pastries using the infamous butter crust (butter crusts are unforgiving and can lose all of their flakiness if overworked [when they DO work, the texture is unique]). TS is getting very proficient at clearing PV panels. Which is good because I had to spend extra time clearing icy and crusty snow off our driveway. The snow’s consistency is so awful, it overstressed a shear-pin on BIG MARTIN’s auger assembly. On the plus side, my snowshoes allow me to float on top of the drifts in the bush (I sink up to my waist like a clueless moose if I don’t wear ’em).

Cafe Gilou also can cater events, so give them a call if you live in the area.
