What awesomeness happened on the property today: TS and PN moved that pile of woodchips generated very early Spring, 2024 (I know that’s true because the wood chipper was stored in the seacan off-season). The hardwood chips were infused with mycelium and has a soil-like aroma and consistency. PN is glad he listened to TS and moved the media to where the hugelkultur operation will be set up. PN tossed the garbage tarp into the bin (reduce the amount of microplastics littering our construction site). PN can also confirm the awesome feeling of driving an ATV over the log-road. Yes, there is less soil compaction because the logs are displacing the machines’ mass. The tires are chewing up the logs and PN can pretend he’s a bad-anus. PN’s important life-lesson today: pay attention to the piggybacked deep-cycle battery’s polarity when attached to the ATV’s smaller battery. I only had a bright spark-arc. If I had done that with the batteries in our house, I would have welded the terminals to the jumper cables (and a hospital-visit inducing thermal burn).
Bad decision, PN. Avoid making that mistake again.
What’s less awesome: there hasn’t been any work done on the house since last week. Despite what Evolve Builders is saying about the scheduling, I doubt occupancy will be possible October 2024. PN expects mid-November/24 at the very earliest. Full on, hey-let’s-get-our-shit-out-of-the-rental-and-into-our-home occupancy might not be until December, 2024.
