In no particular order:
- Busy, Busy Town. And its gritty sequel (I’m kidding)… Busy Town, Busy People.
- Cars and Trucks and Things That Go.
- Best Rainy Day Book Ever.
- European Word Book.
- Busiest People Ever.
- Busy, Busy World.
I remember holing up in the Zyola’s (kid’s name was Bobby) reading room and reading… and reading. Eric played with the religious Bobby… and I doubled down on being a bookworm.
Then, then I discovered Asterix and Obelix (1959 to 1977) and Tin Tin (the British-English Editions). Oh hell… that ensured I had a skewed world view after that (it gave me all kinds of ethnic stereotypes, in-jokes, and satire to mold my overactive imagination). Even then, I suspect I knew people didn’t REALLY act like that.
Mum, thank you for taking us to the Ocean Park Public Library all those times while we lived on 24th Avenue. It served me well.
