Snowshoe-ing! Pet grooming! Woodlot hiking! Gardening!

What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

TS and I verbify team-sports… just like how it’s done on the (occasionally NSFW) internet cartoon, The Oatmeal. Sportsing. Or, sportzing (i.e., I sportz. You sportz. We are not sportzing). I grew up immersed in hockey, elementary school volleyball, and navy cadets. I used to enjoy watching the National Hockey League (NHL), and then stopped when I saw goalies bodycheck and get into fights with the opposing team. I’m looking at YOU, ex-Buffalo Sabres’ Dominik Hašek. You were a goon. Talented. But still a hot-head. Let your defensemen be the enforcers, eh. I don’t participate in organized events. I’m happier that way.

Now, disorganized or small group activities — that I can enjoy! I enjoy clomping through the woods in snowshoes. The ones that we have are designed for cross-country. The traditional leather-and-wood shoes are much easier for me to use on trails or property lines. All of the crevases, rocks and minor trip hazards are covered up. So, it’s easier going. Mind you, the giant strides are one hell of a cardiovascular activity. And ice skating. Our rental home is about a block away from the community centre ice rink. TS and I are planning on donning skates and trying it out on February 5th!

Brushing cats and clipping claws. It can be considered a spectator (blood) sport. If we decide to get a big dumb happy canine, dog walking can be an interesting experience.

Hiking our property lines every morning. That’ll happen at the end of this year… for January 2025?! God I hope so.

And gardening. TS and I are clearing our back yard, preparing it for raised beds. That’ll takes work. It’s a quiet activity.
