Puttering. Strolling. Meditating. Sharpening. Cat Shnorggling.

List five things you do for fun.
  • PUTTERING. I cannot let good-enough alone. If I can mess around with electronics, plumbing, woodworking, home electrical, workshop organization, handtool maintentance… then I will find time to do it. When I was still working in school boards, that meant setting up science labs with detailed instruction for the activities (to my chagrin, it would gobble up hours of my time and upset my homelife). I am relieved not to be in the classroom anymore — despite the loss of a paycheque, medical benefits, and student-interactions.
  • STROLLING. In particular, we enjoy snow shoeing and hiking on our property. In the meantime, brisk walks along the Lion’s Head shoreline are excellent diversions.
We went that-a-way! And back again.
  • MEDITATING. Headspace gives me the opportunity to remain calm. I can sit with my fear. Look at it. And then let it go.
And boy oh boy. I can have a cluttered mind.
  • SHARPENING. Oh dear. I do like my sharp bits of steel. How to get a safe, keen edge… that’s a lifelong skill building activity. I find it meditative. One has to pay attention to what one’s doing, otherwise, I get cut.
  • CAT SHNORGGLING. If there are housepanthers nearby, and their paws have been recently cleaned, then that feline will suffer the indignity of being huffed. It is even better when it is corporal cuddling. I can then parade around the house with them. Me making ridiculous cuddly-wuddly affectations to them.
