At least 25-30 years ago, TS and I traveled from the Lower Mainland (British Columbia) to North York. We were going to stop in Tobermory for the night (after our ferrry trip from Manatoulin Island), but we decided instead to make the run down to Graydon Hall Place (where LA-mum lived). We were smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee so that we could finish the 3-4h drive and not stay in another campground/motel. That was my first glimpse of the North Bruce Peninsula. That was my first impression of the Great Lakes. Jezzus… Lake Superior was… well, GREAT. An inland sea. Our drive down the Bruce reminded me of Tofino, Vancouver Island. After our stay in Toronto, we slipped down to the Indiana Dunes to meet my future extended-family. And we then took the long way around back up to Manitoba… and returned to Vancouver.
Northern Lake Huron + Lake Superior = Clouds of dragonflies. Following the clouds of horseflies, blackflies, and deerflies. Or whatever the hell those carnivorous flying hellspawn they were. Good thing we purchased property in the region!

Reminder: while I would be pleased to share with you the development of our home, respect the signage. This is an active construction site. If you have business with us, drop us a line. We plan on adding additonal surveilance cameras in the vicinity to see who/what is visiting our compost soil-building operation. Stay tuned!

I sure hope there are fireflies around the area.

Appreciated the post, Perpetua (regret the tardy response). We need a hot summer nights and the lightening bugs come out! Now that we’re up here full-time, I looking for the bioluminescent fungi!
